The Tumultuous Life of Demi Lovato
Many individuals who find themselves spending the rest of their lives in the celebrity world often make their start as kids. Many of these childhood stars mold their personalities according to what the people want to see most – often putting their mental health at the back of their minds in order to prioritize their work performance. These childhood stars often have to operate under intense pressure; One source of such pressure is that from the media and paparazzi, who habitually find the need to invade the privacy of these young minds in order to extract stories. The second source of pressure, rather unfortunately, is that from the stars’ parents – the pressure to perform well so that the family can enjoy the financial benefits of Hollywood. This can often lead to a great deal of trauma and mental baggage that the stars have to carry around with them for the rest of their lives.
One example of a childhood star who faced such difficulties is Disney’s very own, Demi Lovato. Lovato made her start in show business at a very young age; She featured in the show ‘Barney & Friends’ when she was just 10 years old. After spending two long years playing with Barney at his little helpers, Lovato joined the Disney crew, starring in the fan-favorite musical film series, Camp Rock. This is around the same time that Lovato made her entry into the musical industry, having one of her songs reach the US Billboard top 100 rankings.
However, Lovato’s difficult childhood took quite the toll on her. After being admitted to intensive care upon almost succumbing to a drug overdose, Lovato opened up about her relationship with narcotics, and her history with substance abuse. Lovato’s difficult childhood, coupled with the pressures of the hyper-vigilant media world, made for a brew that too difficult for her to swallow – as a result, she turned to substances to numb her pain.
After a rather difficult few months, Lovato admitted herself into rehab, and is now focused on making sure that the best of her past be the worst of her future
